Tendencies GDG offers integrated turn-key programs for the biological control of biting flies, with a guaranteed reduction in the nuisance caused by mosquitoes and black flies varying between 80% and 95%, depending on clientele requirements. To mitigate the risk that climate variability represents for this type of service, GDG favours long-term contracts (3-5 years). Extremely favourable conditions for biting flies in 2008 have again allowed GDG to demonstrate the robustness and consistent performance of the methodology it has developed.
The 2008 season also revived interest in the biological control of biting flies. Climactic changes caused by global warming are likely to result in an increase in summer precipitation and, as a result, in the number of treatments required to obtain a guaranteed percentage of nuisance reduction. Climactic change may also stimulate demand for GDG services in regions that have so far escaped the biting flies nuisance.
