GDG Environment Group expands its services and offers an ecological solution against ragweed, a major nuisance for numerous citizens!
TROIS-RIVIÈRES, August 25th, 2009/CNW/ - GDG ENVIRONMENT GROUP, (TSXV:GDG). This morning the vice-president of Science and Technology of GDG Environment Group (TSXV : GDG), Mr. Christian Back, was meeting with the media to present a new service offered by GDG to its customers, the ecological control of ragweed. GDG professionals are already active in the field along roads and highways in several parts of Québec Province. According to several mandates awarded by Transports Québec, GDG is operating in the regions of Trois-Rivières, Gatineau, Laval and Montréal. This service is also offered to municipalities confronted with ragweed problems. The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion has seized this opportunity by contracting GDG services to improve the quality of life of its citizens.
Ragweed is a very abundant indigenous plant in Quebec. According to Santé et Services sociaux Québec, ragweed pollen causes health problems to one person out of ten. To alleviate this public health problem, GDG Environment has undertaken research and development in this new line of work in order to offer efficient and ecological solutions. In March 2009, the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has awarded registration for Ragweed Off, a product submitted by GDG Environment Ltd, a subsidiary of the Group. This ecological product causes, when applied adequately, a fast withering of ragweed leaves in high density areas, such as along sidewalks, alleys, roads, highways, as well as in vacant lots and industrial premises.
GDG Environment has assigned a partnership with the company Entretien Paysager CTM in order to share expertise and resources and to promote ragweed control services among government and municipal agencies, institutions and commercial or private customers. Entretien Paysager CTM is mostly involved in operations of the Quebec City region. Although only in their first year of joint operations, GDG Environment and its partner Entretien Paysager CTM already have a strong foothold in ragweed control services, with contracts representing the large majority of mandates awarded by Quebec government and municipalities in 2009.
